The Aripo CcottageDescriptionThe Aripo cottage is built on one of several ridges in the verdant Aripo valley of the Northern range of Trinidad, and just nine miles north of the town of Arima – which was so named by the Amerindians because of the abundance of water found in the area. The resort itself is part of a ten acre cocoa estate which is partially reclaimed by lush rainforest. “A view of a lifetime” is how Gary Alleng describes the beauty that surrounds him, the beauty that caused him to transform his dream into reality when he built Aripo Cottage.
At the Aripo Cottage the key feature is relaxation, to this end we have tastefully converted the estate’s old cocoa house, which was used for the drying of the cocoa beans nearly one hundred years ago, into our main cottage using the original cedar boards. In addition we have constructed a cabana, which contains three self-contained units. The rooms are all tastefully decorated in a cool country style to suit the surroundings, and consist of a full kitchen, comfortable beds, linens, hot and cold water, cookware and utensils.
