The Black RiverThe Black River is 44 miles long and is Jamaica's longest river. Peat moss lining the river bottom makes the crystal-clear water appear black. It is the main source for the Great Morass - the largest wetland habitat in the Caribbean - providing a swampy home for crocodiles, spectacular birdlife and 250-year-old mangroves thick as organ pipes.
YS FallsThese magnificent waterfalls cascade in steps through tropical forest. At the top, swimmers play in clear waters below a canopy of fern.
Lover's Leap Lover's Leap can be found where the Santa Cruz Mountains plunge to the sea. There are many legends as to how it got its name. One version tells of slave lovers jumping over the cliff to avoid being separated. Another portrays a girl who watched her true love sail away. She thought she could join him by jumping off the sheer 1600 ft cliff that overhangs the sea. The view is still as breath-taking today as when these stories were conceived.
