Antigua Scuba CenterDescriptionThe Antigua Scuba Center is friendly little dive center operating out of English Harbour on the beautiful south coast of Antigua. Antigua’s south coast is quite rugged: rocky cliffs plunge straight down into the ocean and that means… GREAT DIVING with drop offs and mini walls galore. The favourable underwater landscape is only the beginning: The coral encrusted walls and jumbles of boulders you will see create a myriad of hiding places for all types of Caribbean reef fish which congregate in numbers! Larger marine life such as turtles, stingrays, barracuda, jacks, permit, nurse sharks and morays are regularly seen here. South Antigua's abundant marine life is truly one of the diving world's little surprises!
Stingray AlleyStingray Alley is a sloping wall that ends in a sandy basin at about 70 feet/23 meters. Typically we begin our dive by descending along the wall to the basin and take a right turn. Marine life is abundant on the reef and stingrays are nearly always found resting in the sand...that's why the site is called Stingray Alley! Large groupers and snappers are regularly seen here. The coral is quite healthy and includes some brain coral.
Sunken RockA huge pillar of stone in about a 100 feet just off a rocky point is called by some to be Antigua's best dive site. The walls of the pillar are encrusted with corals and sponges and provide refuge for all types of marine life. The more you look, the more you will find. The deep water near the pillar allows sightings of large jacks regularly. We circumnavigate the whole pillar usually in a clockwise fashion. The walls of the pillar are so steep that you will feel like you are in the Bahamas doing a wall dive especially on a clear day. This site requires relatively calm seas however. Proof of deep diving experience required.
Nanton ReefTypical of Antigua's southern dive sites, this site is very close to the cliffs on shore and is characterized by a jumble of large boulders which harbour a variety of marine life. Boulders are well covered with sponges and coral. Just a great dive site. Barracuda and large jacks frequent this site.
