User reviews for Costa Caribe Coral By Hilton All Inclusive

By All-Caribbean User from Living In Canada • I Wish I was there right now!

Overall Rating: 10   Location [10] • Room [8] • Service [10] • Value [10]

The service was great, they did what they could to accomodate us. We were first placed in a room that was distant from the pool areas, and they happily changed our room. The room was very comfortable, there was a balcony where you could sit and look at the gorgeous beach, you could just sit there and talk for hours. The beds were more comfortable than the one that I have at home! The washrooms were clean, they had everything look great before we got there. The location, I found was convinient. We didnt really go anywhere else because we had everything that we needed right there. We were just there for a week, because we have family there. The food was great they had typical Dominican food and pizza, hamburgers, fries ect. The dinner buffet was so good & The breakfast one too. The night life:Shows, Casino, Dance club, they were all great. I could go on forever saying all the good this.

This is great for everyone, Whether your single, with your family, students. You will meet aot of people. I had a great experience so I do not have anything bad to say.I just want to go back..relax in the pools...and have some piņa coladas. ;) I hope you can experience it too.

By LIONELand CORRIE CYR from B.C. Canada • The worst holiday in 30 years

Overall Rating: 2   Location [6] • Room [4] • Service [2] • Value [2]

We were inat Costa Coral Caribe Dec.9-Jan.6-2005. We have travelled for 30years and have never complained till now. The worst holiday ever. The day after we arrived 500 Santo Domingo's arrived and they litterly took over the whole complex, swimming pools, bars restuarants. The locals are always served first or push in for first , they eat non stop and drink non- stop, they are very rude and pushy and no consideration for others. We had our camera stollen the first weekend, the locals got into a drunken brawl w, where clubs ,chairs etc. were flying ,one cchair crahed against my leg , which swoll up and was badly bruised, the militia had to arrive with guns to get this under control. The management just shrugged off everything. We had 2 major floods in our room, went with hot water 2 whole days, the door to our room was open when we came from the beach, a person can complain all day and it is a waste of time .The management team just dismiss everything. The food was the worst we have ever had. We have been to Dominican 3 other times always on the Puerto Plata side and have always been extremely happy. There is no coverd area to sit and have coffee or a drink when it rains (one bar with 4 little tables). This is no Hilton believe me. We never met any couples happy everybody wanted out ,there were 3 hneymoon couples there for a week and in tears the whole week, most of them were moved to different rooms 5 times and it never got better. Do not go to this dump!!

By Fantastic!

Overall Rating: 10

My toddler son, my wife, and I stayed there in late November 2004. It is a fantastic place, well kept, with tons of stuff to do, and excellent food. (4 restaurants, all-inclusive). The choice of coctails was great also. The beach is wonderful, and so are the pools. The stuff is very friendly. It is a great place for kids also. And, it is close to everything geographicaly (45min to Santo Domingo, 20min to the airport, etc.)

By JB from New Jersey • Costa Caribe Coral - Great Value, Very Relaxing!!

Overall Rating: 8

Two friends and I visited the Dominican Republic during the first week of November. We stayed at the Costa Caribe Coral just outside of Santo Domingo. We had a wonderful time here. The accomodations were nice, not 4 or 5 star by U.S. standards, but certainly more than acceptable. The room provided beautiful views and the housekeepers kept the room clean and stocked daily with bottled water and clean towels. The staff were all very friendly and accomodating. There is plenty of chairs on the beach to lay back and relax. The water is a little rocky for the first 20 feet or so, but beyond that, its beautiful. The food was not impressive, but eventually we all found something we liked. We enjoyed the italian and mexican food the most. I would recommend you bring small bills with you if you don't plan on converting your currency because getting change was very difficult. Also, it may be wise to plan your trip during the week. We were advised by many of the people that were there that the weekends are a horrible time to be there because the hotel is packed with both locals and tourists. Overall, we enjoyed the resort tremendously and wouldn't hesitate to go back.

By Can I go back soon?!

Overall Rating: 8   Location [8] • Room [8] • Service [10] • Value [6]

My friend and I meet up every year and go on a trip together. We had looked at the 'usual' vacation spots, and then found this one for the D.R.. We couldn't believe the deal and jumped on it, not knowing what we were getting ourselves into. I'm so glad to say we took the risk!
The hotel itself is very nice, with beautiful landscaping and a great beach. We enjoyed the shows put on every night by the chocolate friends and had a great time at the bar and disco after. If you run into Cornelio, a chocolate friend and the tennis pro, tell him Michelle says hi! We also enjoyed the Dominican and Mexican restaurants and the breakfast buffet. Our rooms were cleaned daily and when we asked for extra towels and hangers, they were soon brought up.
The only down side to the resort is the front desk, which can be understaffed and not always friendly. Also, do not assume that they speak English, many do not. It is best to know some basic Spanish to get by. (I didn't and survived though, so don't worry if you don't.) Finally, the people who book the tours are not always there when they say they will be. But when you book, take the Sanoa Island tour - it is wonderful!
All in all, we had a wonderful time and I would go back again to this hotel. We met some great people and enjoyed a fun and relaxing vacation. I'm already looking at my schedule...

By AnonymousUser0 from Pennsylvania • Pleasantly Surprised!

Overall Rating: 6

After reading some less than flattering reviews of this resort on other websites, I and a female friend from Russia (the Dominican Republic will admit Russian citizens without a visa) were pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the accomodations, facilities and amenities. The hotel personnel are upbeat and friendly and really go out of their way to make you feel at home. The quality and variety of the food at the buffet was good- not exactly haute cuisine but more in the line of high quality institutional foodservice. My friend from Russia was amazed at the variety of tropical fruits served up at every meal. There are plenty of bars where you can imbibe unlimited quantities and a snack bar for between meal cravings. Some negatives were that the pools were unheated which is nice for dedicated lap swimmers but my friend found the water too cold to swim in. The beach is not very wide but our stay was in early December and so there were plenty of beach chairs available. They charge you $19 per week for a key to the room safe which I feel is an insult. Quality of housekeeping is good and there is a special number to dial if there are problems. The bathtub drain in our room did not work, but a plumber came up and fixed it within 30 minutes. Also one day, there were no towels in the room but a phone call brought clean towels within 15 minutes. The mattresses were foam and very comfortable. A major engineering design flaw is that the individual air conditioner compressors are vented to the balcony so that you must turn off the air conditioning or be blasted with hot air while seated on the balcony. Also there is the incessant playing of the "Chocolate Friends" theme song in many areas of the resort which got on my nerves after a while.

By AnonymousUser1 from Long Island, NY • VERY TROPICAL

Overall Rating: 8

My girlfriend and I stayed in this resort, last May.We found the resort to be very tropical in appearance and warm and friendly. The staff (The Chocolate Friends)are always pleasant and accomidating, watch out for Superman or our favorite Bartender.."Whatever".The food was excellent. One drawback is that you must get up before 9am and stand on line,to make reservations for one of the four specialty restaurants.but the family style or buffet restaurant is quite nice on it`s own. This vacation was so nice that we are going back this year in May,with friends and staying in another "Coral Resort"...Where we can relax and enjoy ourselves in Paradise.
