My daughter and I just arrived back from our 2nd stay at El Greco Resort and our LAST!

This time we had a 1 bedroom apartment in the B block - the noisiest block! Our room had a broken phone with the case broken and the wires exposed, a broken stove, was very dusty (our feet were black on the bottom within minutes of each shower!) and worst of all we had roaches! The response to each of my complaints was met with service - usually 5-48 hours later - the maintenance people were always uniformed about what they were coming to my room for, never being prepared to fix the situation, and then taking forever to do so.

We requested a can opener on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. and finally got a can opener on Thursday at 10 p.m. -which together with the power being out for 35 hours and the stove being broken meant I wasn't able to cook for the first 4 days we were in Jamaica - kind of defeats the purpose of having a supposedly fully equipped kitchen! Upon returning from the beach one day at 4 pm I discovered my room hadn't been cleaned, called down to the front desk and was told that the housekeepers would be there shortly. We left to go out and eat and when we came back at 10pm the room still hadn't been cleaned! I complained to the manager about my problems and she got very nasty to me - calling me a liar about the roaches and telling me the reason my room hadn't been cleaned was because I refused service. She told me the reason why the can opener took so long is because they don't like to give them to AMERICANS because they steal them!!!! I was so shocked by the lack of apology and being called a liar and thief!!!

This from a place I PAID to come to! It really put a shadow on our vacation. A lot of the issues we had could have been minimized with an apology or some empathy, instead we were treated as if we were troublemakers which is just really poor customer service- even by Jamaican standards! As a side note - this property boasts of many amenities it does not have- such as babysitting and being handicap accessible - both of which are not true as I found out. People with young children should really inspect their room as there are a lot of hazards (exposed wires, roaches) that you wouldn't expect. The bridge to the elevator is also a concern - it's being renovated and there are large open spaces that drop several hundred feet to the rocks below.

My 2 year old daughter and I just got back from our week long stay at El Greco and it was horrible! This was our second stay - we stayed there in July with a fairly good experience. This time was completely different-our room (we had a one bedroom this time) was dusty, had exposed wires sticking out of the wall and a telephone, and worst of all had roaches in the bathroom! The service was non existent - it took 2 DAYS to get a can opener brought to us, and one day our room wasn't even cleaned and no towels were brought. The stove, t.v., and air conditioning all had problems, which were fixed when the staff felt like it. When I got fed up and complained to the manager she called me a liar about the roaches, said that the reason I hadn't had housekeeping is that I refused service (untrue - as another housekeeper later verified - the staff didn't get aroung to all the rooms that day), and said that the reason I didn't have a can opener in my room and it took so long to get one is because Americans always steal them from the hotel along with pillows and everything else!!! The security and most of the other employees of the hotel don't speak to you or smile at you or any of the normal courtesies you'd expect - just glare and stare at you. You'd be much better off staying at a friendlier, roach free hotel where you won't feel like you've wasted your time and money!

This hotel was at a good location. You can experience tourist accommodations and still get a feel of what local Jamaican life is all about. Clean areas and courteoue staff.

Once you stay at El Greco you will want to return. The staff is friendly and service is excellent. The rooms are very tastefully decorated and clean. Since I was there they have added a resturant on the premises which makes it a better place to stay. Security is very good, Great shopping area, and a great place to stay on the Hip Strip. Give it a try and you will say "Once is not Enough".

The units are very clean and the staff are very efficient and friendly. One outstanding feature is that if there is any problem in one's apartment, someone is available 24/7 to provide the maintenance service required - or to bring extra housekeeping supplies. The staff are well-trained and they all do their work without requiring supervision.

Top service with a beaming smile makes El Greco our favourite place to stay in Jamaica. We have stayed at many other Hotels/Inns/All-inclusive resorts on many other occasions.

I liked the openess and spaciousness of the suite. It was like a two bedroom apartment, complete with full size refrigerator and stove. I especially liked that each bedroom had it's own bath and there was an extra half bath downstairs for guests.

We did take advantage of the breakfast and I appreciated that we had a choice of American or Jamaican. It is in walking distance to the beach and resturants.

Two things would make this place even better: 1. If it was all inclusive and 2. if it was located on the beach instead of accross the street.

I have been visiting jamaica for the past 2 1/2 years and each time our family has stayed at El Greco Resort. I love the people especially Micheal. That young man has such great hospitality. Anything we had need of big or small he always had a helping hand. The rest of the staff is also fantastic. They make you feel like your home away from home. Breakfast is great(love the ackee) the people are wonderful. The rooms are spacious and the location is right in the middle of the hip strip and about 5mins from Doctor Cove's Beach. I love Mobay and i enjoy every stay at El greco. I recommend it highly.

I've been going to Jamaica for 4 years and I've not seen another hotel that matches the friendliness, welcome, rooms and atmosphere that El Greco offers. The staff is friendly each time I go its like being home.

I don't know why this hotel costs so little because it was a great experience! I stayed there with my sister last year for a week as a graduation present from our parents(do cheapcaribbean.com and you can get hotel+airfare for a week for only aboyt $650). Great service, the room was just right. You get a free hot breakfast everyday (american...pancakes, eggs.....or jamaican...saltfish, dumplings....etc) The breakfast was GREAT. Anyway, there are 2 tour buses that I know of that have great rates to ocho rios and negril (only costs about $30 per person depending on how many people go). I loved it, and if I went back to Jamaica, I'd definately stay there. Take advantage of the low rates while you can because I'm sure they'll go up soon. The hotel and service were excellent.

We just got back from staying at El greco in Mo bay for 5 days. I had only read a couple of reviews, so I was a little weary when we arrived. I cannot say a bad thing about this resort. The staff was incredibly friendly, accomidating and helpful. The room was wonderful and clean. Housekeeping came everyday and did a great job. They provide free breakfast every morning- your choice of a continental, American or jamaican breakfast from 6-10am. They also provide free passes to doctors cave beach, right across the street. There is security guards every where to keep the hagglers away from bothering you at the resort. Very good choice of resort for anyone searching for a checp great place to stay in Mo Bay.

I stayed here August 2001, with my girlfriends. The best beach on the strip (Doctor`s Caves) is just down the elevator and across the street. There is nothing not to like about this hotel, the rooms are clean and comfortable, you can bring your own food and cook in the large kitchen. You can also view Montego Bay from the pool and terrace area. The STAFF is wonderful and they go out of their way to accomodate you. I stayed here four years ago and the place is still very well kept-up. But my girlfriends has stayed a week here the last four years in a row. Now I can certainly say, that I am a part of that group. Be happy stay at ElGreco.
