The place was great!! The people could not have been friendlier, the animators were so much fun and they always looked for me to play their games!! The restaurants were awesome, you get whatever you want whenever you want and the food was really good!! The rooms were great and the shows at night were the BEST!!! I had so much fun, can't wait to go back!!

Overall Rating: 8   Location [10] • Room [8] • Service [8] • Value [8]

This was our first trip to Punta Cana. We stayed at the Cayena Beach Club side of the LTI Resort. We had a nice suite with a view of the ocean from our back patio. The resort employees are very nice and helpful. Many speak at least 2 languages.
The food was good. We did have tummy issues the whole week there and Imodium didn't help. I spoke to many people on our plane ride home with the same issues from different resorts. My suggestion is talk to your doctor before you go to see if he will give you some anti-boitics. We did drink bottled water and brushed our teeth with it also. My doctor suggested drink bottled beer and get drinks with no ice.
I did not get to go sight seeing much because of feeling ill. I do suggest lots of small bills for tips. They are very happy with an extra dollar or two. I didn't go shopping in the city, but did go to the little market on the beach. Do lots of bargining (pay half of what they're asking or even less) there because you will get taken advantage of if not.

The beach is unbeliveable. The resort was clean, staff was great. Although the resort was small not a lot to choose from. The price was right for what you got. I will go back to puna cana just for the beach but I would stay at a bigger resort.

Staff, Beach, Rooms, Grounds, You name it!

Coffee not up to par, [not DR coffee]

Just back from 7 days of white sand and excellent service. We've been going to DR for 6 years, and this was one of our best. Friendly staff, great food [seafood rest.] &[beach grill] - normal fare in the buffet. Clean rooms, well kept grounds and everything is easy to get to. Anyone who would complain about this resort, its staff or accomodations should stay home! [the rest of us would prefer it]

This hotel was amazing! The beaches were breathtaking, gardens were upkept, staff was friendly and attentive, food was fairly rich but they had a light meal bar open pretty much 24 hours a day, the entertainment was enjoyable, and how can you beat the sunshine??? I highly recommend this place to people of all ages.

By Dan Martin from Alberta, Canada • LTI Beach: The Good and the Bad. There was no Ugly

Overall Rating: 8   Location [8] • Room [10] • Service [8] • Value [8]

My wife and I stayed at LTI Beach Resort from Jan 27-Feb 10, 2005. LTI is a beautiful resort. The gardens and landscaping are terrific and it is lovely at night: lamps are located high up in the palm trees and gives almost a numinous effect. the resort feels spacious, but you don't have to walk far between rooms, restaurants, beach, pool, and other amenities. The pool is large and nicely designed. The beaches are beautiful, and wide with typical Carribean white sand, and you can walk for miles without running out of beach. This is generally a very aesthetically pleasing resort, and very clean.

I believe the variety and quality of food at LTI was less than other 4 star resorts I have been to. The resort staff were friendly and helpful, but speak very little English, which is understandable given the mix of ethnic groups who visit there. I recommend buying a book such as Kershul's "Spanish in 10 minutes a day". You will quickly learn basic phrases in Spanish that helps enormously to get around. Besides, the service workers appreciate it, and you inevitable get a smile and an extra hand: when they know what you want, they try hard to get it for you. The bar tenders are not stingy with liquor in the drinks. The front desk people are very fluent in a number of languages, and change languages like changing hats.

I enjoyed seeing children at the resort and watching them build their castles in the sand. They were with their parents and well behaved, and never a problem with swarms of noisy kids. I believe that some local families come to the resort on weekends, and it was satisfying to me that the locals folks can enjoy some of these features in their own country, and it was never crowded at the resort on weekends or otherwise. There are plenty of beach/pool chairs, but if you want a cabana (sp?) you need to get out early.

I read some previous reports about "nationality tensions" at the resort. I saw nothing at all like that. In fact, I watched, Canadians, Americans, Germans, French and Spanish all playing beach and stage games together, and seemed to be enjoying each other. The rest of the world should be more like that. Most people were enjoying their vacations and I think they had left politics at home. If tensions existed, I think they were in the minds of a very few.

If you are Canadian, take enough American funds for shoppping and purchasing activities. The Dominican banks (and there is one on the LTI resort) will shaft you severely on exchange rates. This was my previous experience, and I enquired again on this vacation about the exchange rate. The Domincan bank on site quoted me 16 peso's for one Canadian dollar and 25 peso's for an American dollar. It doesn't take much arithmetic to realize Canadians are still getting screwed on their currency. You will also pay a 20 dollar (U.S.) tourist tax when leaving the Dominican Republic.

I highly recommend the massage located in the hair salon on the resort. It was definately worth the money. I was disappointed with the scuba diving. The instructers were friendly and professional, and gave an excellent pool lesson; however, the ocean was murky and rough. There was very little to see under the ocean here. This dive was not in the same league as diving off the Cancun coast where waters are sparkling clear and marine fauna and flora are spectacular. I also recommend the Bavaro Safari, a one day trip. Our guide was "Jacky" a Dominican who grew up in the country and is now a medical student. He was entertaining and informative and takes you into the very heart and soul of the Dominican people and the country.

I recommend this resort and would love to go back, except that I always choose a new location just for the novelty of it.
