User reviews for Legends Hotel

By Adrian & Carolyn Perkins from New Brunswick, Canada • It was just fair

Beach was awesome

not to Legends again

January 2006-- Our 1st time to this part of Caribbean. Beach was awesome & not overly crowded, had no problem there. The hotel itself was even passable in respect to the price, our maid Chiquita was a doll & very friendly & helpful. The food was so monotonous, I personally do not care to have calalloo for breakfast, lunch & dinner, every day. We also did not find the dining room staff very friendly, we tip very well when we receive good service, but absolutely did not receive it. Anthony was a gentleman & he was rewarded like one. Also O'Neil Security Guard was very pleasant, had no problem.

Would we return to Jamaica? Definitely would but not to Legends. Actually planning a trip back to Negril January 2007, but not to Legends. I would not recommend this hotel if you want friendly service, we are the reason these people have jobs, maybe they should stop & think about that.

By Jenn from Ann Arbor, MI • Girls Robbed during Sleep

Overall Rating: 1

Don't Believe The Pictures!!

1. Girls room was broken into during night. We think owner maybe have been invovled. Passports, cameras, sunglasses and iPods were taken.

2. Staff did nothing to help, did not want to call the police, did not offer an apology.

3. Owner argued with girls about cancelling their credit cards...since he somehow knew they would be found later....which they were, with the passports.....but nothing else.

4. We moved 2 days later, and owner REFUSED to give us any money back...so we told everyone there about the situation....and 4 people ended up checking out....for their own safety. Owner then fought with us, in front of other customers.

5. Food was pretty bad, and not many choices...Do not do all inclusive....drinks took forever to get....and it seemed like it pained the staff to get us something when we asked.

6. No towels. Small beach due to hurricane, don't believe pictures. Pool is DIRTY, and only has like 2 chairs.

sub par accomodations and ammenities, not worth your money

My friends were robbed while they were sleeping at night. The staff was not helpful and the owner was obviously not aware that when owning a hotel you should actually care about your customers. He argued with us and actually reprimanded us and "sent us to our room". We left as soon as we could, but please note that the owner charged us for all 7 nights, he would not give us our money back.

Even if the robbery had not happened, the hotel is by far the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in...this coming from someone who backpacked through Europe staying at some sketchy hostels and budget hotels.

The internet pictures look great, but don't be fooled. The pictures are outdated. The hotel was damaged by a hurricane a few years ago and the beach is barely there and it does not nearly look like it does online.

We did the all inclusive which was only partially inclusive and what it did include was the pits...very few food choices at meals, limited selection on drinks and the drinks that you do get are very watered down.

There are plenty other hotels on this same strip that are the same price that offer security, real food and some amenities. This hotel may claim to be budget but in truth it is actually a hotel that rips people off who are on a budget.

This hotel is not as it seems in the internet pictures. My friends were robbed the first night they were there (the person came into their room while they were sleeping) and the staff was less than helpful in working with us and our situation. The owner was a jerk and he threatened us, he refused to give us different rooms (even after locals on the beach were telling my friend that they recognized her from the stolen passport picture they had seen and their keys to the room were in the purses that were stolen). The owner made us pay for all 7 nights even though we left after we were robbed. The food was terrible and the beach was non existent. This is not a budget hotel, it is a hotel that rips people off that are on a budget. There were other hotels a few feet away offering much more for the same price.

Overall Rating: 10   Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10]

I've been to negril a million times but never at spring break . If anyone went there last 2005 ..then they know what I'm talking about . My husband and I stayed at this hotel ..Legends..I thought it was pretty cool ..but they thought I think we were two old but it didn't bother me ..after all ..I've been going there since 81...VH1 ..was there and I have pictures... I felt at home because all these kids were my kids age ..And you know my old man was taking every picture he could ... to keep up .. I survived spring break with alot adults my kids age and it made me feel good ..I thought the staff was great although they can get a bit sidewinded because of the heavy crowd. But I'm going back..in 2006 ..I'm not sure where I'll stay I'm sure close to there ...Never been in January ...so I guess...I'll just have to see what I'm in for ..Everyone I met at Legends that works there i thought was cool ..One of the waiter 's Anthony and waitress ..for sure I think her name was sheri..They were always on it ...An Kearan the manager ..is pretty cool I spent nine days last March ...and all in all we had a good time ..If I was able to stay there this time when I go back ..I would ..The only thing I'd like to see about this Hotel ..is more beach area ..

I've been to Legends several times and have stayed on the beachside. After my first trip I decided to go all-inclusive because the price difference was minimal. All alcoholic beverages were included until 10pm. The staff was friendly and helpful. They always remember me when I go back. The hotel security guard at night (Claude) always kept an eye out for my friends and me. Everything is laid back at Legends and in the Negril area in general. There is no hustle and bustle of a city like Mobay. Legends is right in the middle of the "Nightlife" on the beach. You don't even have to go into town for fun. If the party isn't at Legends at night then you only have to go left or right up the beach, everything is within walking distance. During the day Legends offers comfortable beach lounge chairs, and there are also shady spots on the beach if you want to get out of the sun. Right next door to Legends is a Cambio that gives a better exchange rate than the hotel and sells phone cards so you can call home cheaper. Just a few more steps away across the street is a shopping center. The town of Negril is within walking distance from Legends also. I've stayed at a bigger, much more expensive all-inclusive resort with my son before...he had a ball, but for 8 days I kept thinking, "I'd be having so much more fun if I was at Legends!"

By Dan from North Carolina • No complaints, get what you pay for

Overall Rating: 8   Location [8] • Room [8] • Service [8] • Value [8]

My wife and I spent a week here in June '05. Ok, it's not a 5-star resort, but for the money, it was fine with us. The staff were very nice, particularly to my wife, who was pregnant. The room was not sumptuously appointed, but was clean. I've seen some reviewers complaining about the beds being hard. Well, they must be accustomed to waterbeds, I don't know. The food was fine - we weren't all-inclusive, but we had breakfast every day and a few lunches and dinners, and had no complaints. Right across the street from a kind-of upscale shopping center, easy walking distance from "downtown" Negril. Easy access to tours. Basically, not a lot of extras, pretty much everything was good, not excellent (though one waitress in the restaurant WAS exceptionally nice to us). All in all, what you would expect for the price.

By Chelsea from Newport, AR • I can't wait to go back!!!!

I liked this hotel because we stayed on the side with the 7 mile beach. This hotel has 2 parts to it, one is on the side with the 7 mile beach and the other is across the 2 lane road and if you plan on staying here you should probably request the side with the beach because crossing the street might be a small hassle. I liked this hotel alot and the bar on the beach is awsome!!!! If you stay here you should get a BANANNA DAQUIRE or PURPLE RAIN or MUD SLIDE they taste great!!!! Oh Yeah, they have a great happy hour deal also!! The only thing I didn't like was that there was not an ice machine but there was one by the bar that you could go too. My family was also pleased with this hotel.
