Greatly disappointed

We just got back from Aruba, sooo beautiful and amazing, I’d go back in a heartbeat, but... I would never stay at La Cabana again.

We were on exchange from Interval International and have traded a five star hotel in Tahoe for La Cabana, which compares to Motel 6 in its appearance and quality of service (we are very surprised that Interval International is associated with this establishment, embarrassing). The facility appears run down and outdated. Upon arrival, we were greeted by unfriendly front desk staff.

Our room looked old and not very clean, (I would never use the kitchenette, and was taking showers wearing flip flops). The bathroom does not have any toiletries, the shower gel, and shampoo, are in plastic dispensers mounted on the wall with some sort of fungus/soap scum growing on it. Very outdated and run down vanity, with a piece of plywood holding down the Kleenex box. Upon entering the bathroom, as I turned on the light/fan switch the fan cover fell on my head and exposed a nasty, dusty fan. As soon as the repairman left our room the fan cover fell off again… we gave up.

Hallways full of dirty towel carts and janitorial carts everywhere, some construction going on with the elevators. One night we were too tired to go out to an outside restaurant to eat we attempted to eat at La Cabana (not a good idea). Poor selection of dishes and mostly buffet style, nothing spectacular, for 30$ per person!?

Concierge service - poor, rude at times, annoyed with simple questions, would hand us the phone receiver to handle our reservations. On the other hand a representative of The Palm Tours very friendly, helpful and pleasant, took care of all our activities.

Calling front desk, GOOD LUCK! They never pick up the phone, neither did the operator.

Good things… beautiful beach easily accessible, warm, clear water, gorgeous weather. Many wonderful restaurants. If you are a seafood lover try Aqua grill, Flying Fishbone is a must!

Activities including snorkeling, horseback riding, jeep safari.

Overall we had a wonderful time, very relaxing. Highly recommend Aruba for a wonderful experience, just not at La Cabana.

We stayed here for a week before heading over to stay a few days at the Holiday Inn on Palm Beach.

Our 1 bedroom was kind of small and a long walk from the beach. But it was very clean and nicely decorated. It was nice to have a kitchenette. The pools and beach are very nice and the resort has many shops, stores, and places to eat. A lot of activities for kids. Not much to do at night time within the resort except for the Casino which is in a separate building, not within walking distance for most. A good place for families who want an all-inclusive feel.

We actully liked staying on Palm beach better since that is where the diving docks are at. (La Cabana does offer a shuttle to take you over there for diving). Also, it did seem like there were more things to do outside of the hotel within walking distance on Palm Beach, even at night.

I loved this hotel. We had a wonderful time and it is central to what we wanted. We were near a grocery store (important to my husband). We were on the ground floor which was perfect. It is a paradise on earth. We have been there seven times and tell everyone about it.

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon in May 1997 and we loved it. Nice beaches, nice hotel, nice room, we felt safe walking around the island, people were friendly. We're taking our 4-year-old daughter with us next week. She'll love the pools, the beach across the street and the island itself.

The relaxed atmosphere; the courteous and helpful staff; the cleanliness of the facilities; the location on Eagle Beach, one of the best in the world as far as beauty of the setting, whiteness of the sand, and clarity of the water are concerned.

The rooms in this hotel are very big. We stayed in the backside of the hotel which is the farthest from the beach and lobby area. Our room had a living/kitchen area and a separate room for the bedroom.
There was not carpet in the room at all... just tile. The bedsheets were very old and worn and the sheets were thin.
The beach area was very nice... but it's hard to find a bad beach in Aruba.
The pool area was nice also... they have good happy hour and live music.
The service staff was not very informative. They acted like they weren't used to the questions I was asking (which I thought were pretty normal).
Be weary of the timeshare presentation... it sucks up about 3 hours of your time and they pressure you to buy.
Overall, we didn't have a bad experience, but we probably won't return to this hotel.

Stayed there three days before leaving on a cruise. The rooms were great and the pools were fantastic. There were activities going on at the main pool constantly, but we liked the peace and quiet at the other two pools. My daughter loved the twisty slide. I could have lived in the spa tub in the room. It was big enough to stretch out in. The beach was right across the street, but we liked the pools. Also, the bus stopped right across the street if you wanted to go into town. The workers at the hotel were very friendly. Can't wait to go back.

LaCabana is located on Eagle beach, one of the most beautiful mile long beaches you ever hope to see. The hotel itself has everything. Each unit has a kitchen so you can eat in as often as you wish. (breakfast and lunch especially).. There are many restaurants on he premisis if you would rather eat out....all 3 meals can be had on the grounds. Close to many other fine restaurants if that is your desire. An excellant resort for family or just the 2 of you. We love it and return every 6 months...Feb, and August. Beautiful pools, activities (all water sports are available) water arobic courses held 4 time per week, full health club, racketball and tennis courts on the premisis.
