User reviews for Negril Gardens Beach Resort All Inclusive
By Randy & Tracy from Florida • Exactly what we were looking for
Overall Rating: 8 Location [8] • Room [9] • Service [9] • Value [8] | Rooms, location, service |
We stayed at Negril Gardens 7/1/06 - 7/4/06. It was exactly what we were looking for. If you want to experience Jamaica, this is the place for you. The rooms were clean and the air conditioner worked great. Everyone was very friendly and was there for anything that we needed. You have to meet Andrew and Tony at the bar. The drinks were remarkable and made with fresh fruit on the spot. They have a spa where Monique will give you the best massage I have ever had. We went horseback riding with Chukka Blue...very fun. You are close enough to walk to the "Time Square" mall where you can buy anything. We will definitely be back to this resort, we left a little piece of our heart there when we left.

Overall Rating: 10 • Service [10] • Value [10] My buddy and I went to Negril and stayed at the Garden from Dec 24, 05 to Jan 7, 06 and it was awesome. We found the staff at the resort to be exceptionally kind and concerned for our comfort and well being. As soon as we arrived at the resort I felt like a made man, with staff and guests all being friendly and relaxed.
The food was pretty good, some days better than others but, we never went hungry. If you didn't like the buffet then you could always get a burger or hot dog or sandwich etc. Our room was brightly colored and fairly well maintained. Let's be real though, we didn't go for the room. We never went in the pool, it looked clean but why pool when you could be in the crystal clear blue ocean on a beautiful white sand beach. The bar was great, open from 10am to 1am. I think I drank more fruit than I had eaten in a year.
There was a lot of pressure from vendors once you step off of the resort, but saying no and sticking to your word as well as don't stop walking, pretty well kept them off our back. If you don't want to deal with them at all then just kick back on the beach at the resort. The hotel security won't let them on the resort, they may stand at the waters edge and try to wave you over but, if you ignore them enough or wave them off they'll leave you alone.
There are some good water activities offered and some great shell diving, that was one of my favorites. There is also miles of beach in both directions of the resort so a good walk is pleasant. The sunsets were tremendous, and on and on. There are lots of great tours to sign up for from the resort also, I recommend the River Walk and YS falls, the rum factory tour was okay also.
Overall we had a great trip and are recommending it to anyone we talk to. The people, the place, the atmosphere, all well worth repeating and I think we will. Special thanks to Andrew, the bartender, his specialty drink called "come again", and Clive the all around swell dude to chill with and keep you happy. Thanks Negril Gardens for a great trip!
Oh yeah, anyone who gives this resort a bad rap must be used to a silver spoon up there a**, this resort isn't overdone, it's for real people not the "I'm better than you" type. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Elizabeth from Bloomington, IL •
Overall Rating: 10 • Service [10] I surprised my husband for his 40th birthday in 2004.
The hotel/food was great, beach was excellent. Hotel was used just for sleeping - we were not in it all that much so it served our purpose well.
Met wonderful people from around the world which we still correspond to, had a great time and here I am looking to book our next trip back :) Staff was very friendly and accommodating - if you didn't like what was on the buffet, they would cook anything you wanted. Recommend this hotel, you bet! We'll definitely be back. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By All-Caribbean User from New Hampshire • Great Resort

Overall Rating: 8 Location [8] • Room [8] • Service [6] • Value [8] While in Negril for a friend's wedding at Sandals, I couldn't book the entire last-minute stay at Beaches, so myself and some friends stayed at Negril Gardens for two days. Compared to the native foliage at several other resorts, Negril Gardens was the best. I stayed at the half on the beach side of the road, and didn't check out the other half. I was stunned by how well-developed and encompassing the foliage had matured to at this resort.
Of course the less-scenic Sandals and Beaches resorts I stayed at in Negril had SCUBA diving, many restaurants, and more diversified activities (and I enjoyed them all). Negril Gardens for me had a beautiful quieter serenity about it that was very relaxing. I met some interesting Europeans who were also staying there. The food was great, the staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean, and the sunset was beautiful.
Just to the north up the beach is a colorful local bar/restaurant (not that you'd need one in an all-inclusive)that takes up a different character at night. They erect a fence along (but not blocking) part of the beach, and the place fills with reggae music and locals mixed with a few tourists. You have to be willing to not be annoyed by being approached by drug dealers and prostitutes to enjoy the place. I was just honest, repectful and friendly with folks, and I had no problems.
A year later, in November 2004, I was back in Negril a month after Hurricane Ivan just brushed the west coast. The northern part of the seven-mile beach seemed hit hardest, with a lot of building damage and snapped-off palm trees. The southern part of the beach was apparently protected bt the peninsula by Ricks Cafe, which was hit hard. I was happy to see that Negril Gardens still had its beautiful foliage still intact Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By nepaman911 from Kennesaw, Georgia • Good for the price
Overall Rating: 8 Location [8] • Room [8] • Service [8] • Value [6] My wife and I loved the hotel. The food was not the greatest, but you can't beat the views. The best part of the trip was taking the glass bottom boats that are accessable on the beach. The hotel tour rates were expensive. Overall, the hotel was nice for the price I paid. I wished it would have had a pool. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By CB from New Hampshire • Loved it !!! going back next month.

Overall Rating: 10 The only thing I really disliked about the Hotel was that it was not on the beach and you had to cross a very busy streetto get to the beach side.It was my first visit to Jamaica. I have been there twice through Air Jamaica and it is likely I will go back this year. It is on the most beautiful, serene beach you can imagine. The rooms are very nice and clean and the bright, tropical paint job on the whole resort makes you feel very much in Jamaica and very tropical! The landscaping is gorgeous, and provides a wonderful tropical ambiance. The food is very good and there is a lot of it and the restaurant has a beautiful view of of the water. The staff is very friendly, helpful and warm. Which side you stay on depends on what you are looking for. I stay on the Garden Side because it is quiet late at night. The beach side is rocking late at night. Different strokes for different folks! Negril Gardens is a great deal in terms of cost as well. I would highly recommend this resort for anyone who wants to see, feel and taste the flavor of the tropics. Overall Rating: 8 Negril Gardens is a small, quaint property and very relaxing. There are 2 accommodation options, the beachside (where the bar and restaurant are located) and the gardenside (very quiet --where the pool is located). There is a security guard that will stop traffic each time you walk across the VERY small road. I highly recommend Negril Gardens for couples and singles. I am a travel agent (and single mom). I stay at Negril Gardens 2x a yr (Apr and Nov) for the past 8 years with my ..now.. 10yr old son. Everyone at the hotel knows us and ALWAYS makes us feel very welcome. It is our home away from home. The food is outstanding. Breakfast is usually the same, but great and the lunch and dinner's always have a different variety. There is entertainment *only* 3 nights out of the week, just laid back bands, no DJ's etc. There are not "activities" (ie games to part-take in) or childrens activities like the bigger resorts. You can walk down the beach (either way) for nightlife. You have Alfred's right next door, Roots Bamboo, Risky Business, The Jungle (a little dressier), Bourbon Beach (formerly DeBuss) and Margaritaville. The rooms at Negril Gardens are very basic, but very clean. They now have hairdryers in the rooms, but they are still working on getting the coffee machines in the rooms. There is a great spa that opened on the property recently.
Keep in mind (and an open mind) when traveling to another country, the food will NEVER taste and be the same as it is here in the states!
When you go to Jamaica, PLEASE venture out and taste the local foods at other places. Kuyaba and Norma's are excellent places to dine!

Overall Rating: 8 Location [6] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] My sister and I went in May. Rooms were clean, staff was very friendly except for one crazy cab driver they let guests with. The food was ok. It was good the first couple of nights but it got old and there wasnt much of a selection. We stayed on gardenside. We had to cross the street everyday to eat, get a ride, go to the beach or do anything. Stay on beachside because there will be less harassment. The beach was clean and the sunsets were georgeous but the beach was small. Those pain in the butt locals who tried to see everything would always come up to you. Security was friendly and safe especially at the entrances but not so much on the beach. Bar staff was great but drinks were a little too small. I would definitely recommend to stay here if you are on a budget. It is a great location in Negril. Overall Rating: 8 Location [10] • Room [8] • Service [8] • Value [10] We fell in love with this place our first hour there! My only caution would be to not take your family here during spring break time. There was a family there with a 16 year old girl and the dad wasn't too happy about all the college boys hitting on her. It is packed with college kids who get a little rowdy. The bartenders, Andrew and Howard, are very nice and very good at mixing drinks. The grounds are gourgeous and the rooms are very nice. People make Negril out to be a lot worse than it actually is. Really it's not that bad of a place as long as your not walking by yourself at night you really are ok. I highly recommend this resort and the booze cruise! Overall Rating: 6 Location [8] • Room [8] • Service [6] • Value [10] BE CAREFUL of the locals in this area. They want to act like your friend but they want your money. Tell all of them your good or if they really want you as a customer, then leave you to shop and you will let them know what you need. The hotel is really cute and the the staff is very good at taking care of you. If you get Fiona as a housekeeper, take care of her. She is very nice. Lesa a cook is very friendly in a ginuine way. Tony makes great strwberry banna daquris(?)Andrew can make a great pina colada. Mrs.Campbell in the gift shop/ tour bookings will help you plan a perfect tour. If your there on Valentines day, take the Wildthing Valentines cruise to Rick's Cafe. It's the best way to experience the booze cruise!!!!!!!!!!!! tv Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | |
