Denise- I celebrated my birthday here, and after not seeing each other (family) for a long time, we had a great experience!The night clubs had good music, and I met many new people.

Anthony- I had a great time and the food was delicious! The pools were very big and I had a lot of fun.there are shows at night and they were very funny.

both- We really recomened this hotel resort to many other people, even if you are from Dominican Republic, like us, or not, it was more than what we expected.

SOME OF THE PEOPLE WERE NICE BUT FOR THE MOST PART THE SERVICE PEOPLE DID NOT SEEM LIKE THEY WANTED TO BE BOTHERED. THE PEOPLE SELLING STUFF WERE UP OUR BUTS THE WHOLE TIME & IF WE SAID NO THEY TREATED US LIKE CRAP. THE GROUNDS WERE PRETTY NICE THE ROOMS WERE CLEAN THE FOOD WAS DECENT . OVER ALL WE HAD A GOOD TIME. I DONT THINK I WOULD GO BACK.

My sister and I headed down to the Capella for a week and just arrived home on June 17. We had the best time, the best service and met the most wonderful people.

FOOD: Food is good, lots of variety, numerous restaurants, although we didn't venture far from the main restaurant. There are always made to order omelettes, grilled chicken, made to order pastas. Then there are diet buffet and vegitarian buffets along side the numerous selections. If you can't find something great, then you are nuts! Try the fresh juices at breakfast (canteloupe, banana, mango melon-fresh pureed fruit to drink!)

DRINKS: The rum flowed like water. We were drinking like 20 drinks a day. They have wine (table wine), delicious pina coladas and dacquiris-if you get to know the bartender Pedro and ask nicely, he'll make you a drink in an actual pineapple. It is beautifully deccorated with fresh flowers and is gorgeous! Never mind its delicious. Our drinks tended to be pretty strong. 1/2 rum 1/2 drink. Once, and only once, I had to dilute the rum. Also, if you get to know the other bartenders, they will introduce you to other drinks like COCOLOCOS-that's just addictive. We didn't have any trouble getting drinks at all. We also did NO tipping until the last day. We showed our thanx by passing out a few dollars to everyone that went above and beyond. However, they didn't expect it and were gracious and surprised.

ROOMS: Our room was beautiful 4211. We got in at midnight on Saturday night and asked (per these reviews) for an oceanside room in the 4000 building. They gladly obliged even though we didn't pay for it, were not reserved for it-and we didn't have to pay extra or slip the door guy any money. He just said no problem! Our room was great, not perfect, but perfect for us. Sure, there is a little crack in the ceiling and the room and it is damp, but heck... its is hot and humid there! We had a fridge (stocked), a safe, an iron, an ironing board, a blowdryer, a coffee pot... it was pretty outstanding. However, note to self... don't shut the balcony door while you are outside, it automatically locks for your protection! Yes, 4am and full of rum, my sissy and I got locked outside!

PEOPLE: I have traveled extensively around the world and have always through that the nicest, most familial people were Greeks. I must say that the Dominicans were one of the most honorable, most proud, most sincere, most honest, most sympathetic people I have come across. We spent a great deal of time with locals that came in for short vacations and had a chance to learn about the people, the culture, the diversity, the economy, the history, etc. I think the most capturing phrase was by one gentleman at the disco, at the end of the night, he bowed and said, "ladies, I want to thank you for visiting our country. it has been an honor to host you. It is my hope that you will go home with fond thoughts of our country and our people, and you will long to return." We each then got a kiss on the hand. Nothing more, and nothing more was expected. It is my suggestion that you take time to talk with people and learn about them.

What I liked is the friendlines of the staff!they are very friendly and helpful.

What i dislike is the, transportation to and from the hotel. The hotel does not have much choices on transportation to tourist attractions.

After reading all the reviews about the Barcelo I was extremely worried upon arrival expecting to see a dump. I arrived and was quite surprised. The grounds are extremely beautiful. There are flamingos and peacocks roaming the grounds. There are 2 pools both with swim up bars and 1 with a slide. The room that we had was int he 4000 block with an ocean view and balcony. it was very clean and up to par. The only complaint we had about the room where the little ants on the night stand. We called the front desk and they were quick to send up th eexterminator to fix the problem. Our only major complaint was the food. My friend and I were consistently sick after every meal. The only meal that seemed to sit well was the breakfast. Make sure to only eat the omelettes or eggs that the chef makes right in front of you as opposed to the eggs that are sitting in the buffet. The fruit was always delicious. The rest of the food was a major dissapointment. Major seemed recycled and afterwards must have been the reason we were getting sick. Sickness ranged from dizzy spells, naseau, and dhiarreah. We were thankful that we only stayed 3 days because any longer and we would prorbably have left really ill. I would go back if it wasn't for the food. It was a shame because the grounds are sooo nice. Also another suggestion either bring swim shoes or buy them there from the vendors on the beach. The water is beatiful but there is a lot of coral. Very uncomfortable unless you have protection. You can bargain and get them for as little as 10.00 a pair which is a great deal!

This was a wonderful experience.
The staff were very polite, very helpful, and accommodating. A BIG THANK YOU to Javier and Junior for going the extra mile and making our stay a memorable one.
The food was excellent, from the sitdown meals to the buffets.They had an excellent variety of foods, local and domestic.
The room was clean, nicely decorated and restful.
The grounds, landscape was heavenly, well manicured lawn and maintained. The type of place where you just want to stop and "smell the rose" if you know what I mean.
The beach was good, water nice and warm, but I would bring some water shoes with me. The entertainment was excellent, both during the day as well as in the evening. Don`t worry about the vendors on the beach, they respected our wishes.
All and all.......it was a very pleasant stay and we would surely visit again.

six adults (my 82 year old mom included) stayed at the barcelo capella beach resort from march 19-26,2004 and had a really nice stay. we have previously stayed at secrets,iberostar punta can and the caribe club princess. except for secrets this resort matched the others...the staff were friendly and helpful the caribbean sea was lovely and the food was better than expected ,bring beach shoes as the coral is rough.i look forward to returning to the resort and thank garber,ismael and gisell for a wonderful experience. bien,bien,bien.mary elen morrissey

The resort was absolutely amazing the staff was ubeleivable they were polite friendly and most importantly they actually care about the people. The entertainment was amazing the entertainers are incredibly talented and really know how to put on a show. The restaurants and the buffet were very good the food was good and the service was great. The beaches and the pools are both everything you ever wanted and unlike someone elses review there are not many vendors on the beach and the few that there is they are very polite and will respect your wishes if you do not want to purchase anything. The disco at night is also a lot of fun for those who enjoy dancing. All and all this resort is AMAZING and I would definetly recommend it to anyone. The best part about this whole resort is the fact that everyone is so friendly and they all have huge hearts and they really care about you and your well being in your time spent at the resort.

Barcello Capella beach resort is an outstanding spot to spend a vacation. It has everything you can ever want great entertainment, food, staff and activities. The rooms are maintained to perfection and it is just an all around great time. The one thing that really makes this place so special is the people (staff) they are incredibly friendly and make you feel like you are right at home.

My wife and I got married here 5 years ago but unfortunately it appears that the resort has changed management since then. The beaches here are wonderful and the resort`s facilities are very good. The people are friendly and very polite. If there are vendors on the beaches they are not pushy. the rooms are tastefully decorated and the honeymoon suite is fantastic. Our wedding was well coordinated and everyone of our 60+ guest had such a wonderfull time they still talk about it today.
