I was very angry with the manager when she told me " in the interest of Security I would have to pay more money if I had a guess come to my room". I'm sure there is some logical reason why the hotel would be safer with more money tact on to my bill, but for some unknown reason I just don't get it!

I have used the Embajador I think eight times in the past year.

The hotel might best be described as "traditional", and the previous comments regarding the excellence of service are all spot on.

The staff are consistently friendly and obliging, and the facilities excellent.

Only possible disappointment is the main bar, which is part of the lobby and lacks atmosphere.

Rooms are very comfortable and thoroughly serviced twice every day.

I can't comment on convenience from a tourist point of view, but it's an excellent base for business, with competent IT facilities and meeting rooms of assorted sizes.

This hotel was much more than my husband and I expected. Upon arrival, your door was opened, hand outstretched, bags immediately unloaded. This extravagant and professionally executed service was moment to moment in our week long stay here. We have not received professional attention like this at the "best" hotels in the US.

The landscaping. lobby, and pool truly made us feel like we were at a tropical resort instead of in the city. It was a great place to retreat to after spending hours in the centro de santo domingo and the colonial zone (which are a 5-10 minute taxi ride away for a couple of bucks). Highly recommend.

This hotel was wonderful. From the moment of arrival until departure, the service was excellent, whether at the front desk (both for signing in and signing out), the restaurant or at the pool.

The rooms were super comfortable, down to the turning back the covers at night and the chocolate left on the bed. Yummy!!! And they were clean on arrival and the staff did a wonderful job of cleaning during my stay.

The location in a residential area had its charms, but the nearest public transportation was about a 15 minute walk away. However, there were plenty of hotel taxis available, day or night.

I would DEFINITELY stay there again if I am ever in Santo Domingo
