Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] If you would ask me to discribe Sun Village in one word, that word would be "Wow". I had an INCREDIBLE time. I was there with my best friend Dan and I would have to say, that apart from the weather being kind crappy, it was Amazing. I was lucky enough to stay there and I am glad we chose this place because I don't think I would settle for anything less than this little paradise resord called Sun Village. For anyone thinking of going anywhere else, here's my advise..Don't. This place has like 7 pools, and outdoor hot-tub, pool side bars, really friendly staff. I met so many incredibly sweet people and it made the experience so much more memorable. I would definitely go back there as I had the absolute time of my life. It was literally heaven on earth. Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] We have just come back from a 2 week holiday to sun village, the hotel is one of the best hotels i have ever been to. The staff are extreamly helpful and the pools, rooms and other areas are constantly been cleaned and maintained. While we were there the hot tub was opened next to the beach bar, great for when teh sun goes down. There is so much choice when i comes to dinning, there is a Thai, Mexican, and a Mediterranean restaurant as well as the Malibu Buffet restaurant. The only slight critisim i would have is the constant invitations to invest in the EMI Resort, we were there for a holiday and felt it a little pushy. We definetly reccomend the Monster Safari excursion too, we will be back next November! Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By All-Caribbean User from U.K England • Fabulous
Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] The best holiday of my life. The entertainment staff made my holiday the best experience it could be. Very friendly, always up for a laugh and with their best efforts, try to get the guests as involved as possible. The food was pleasantly varied and delicious- especially the thai resturant. Definitaly going again as soon as possible! Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By sarah from atl, ga • SPECTACULAR
Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] i have to 100 percent disagree with these peoples comnents. my daughter and i just jame back from SUn village 4 days ago (april 8-14 2005) and we absoultuly LOVED it...the entertainment staff was VERY friendly, and the complaints about all stairs are just ludacris. Get over it, a little walking can NEVER hurt. Yes, i can agree that they could have wokred harder on the food their but that is the only complant that i have. People need to stop complaining, this resort is fenominal from start to finish and te decor there is just spectacular. we loved how the staff always tried to get you to join in with all the fun. GREAT time and resort!!! we will DEFINETly be going back,... Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Roxana G. from Cleveland, Ohio • Finding paradise by mistake
Overall Rating: 10 Location [10] • Room [10] • Service [10] • Value [10] | absolutely AMAZING... the best vacation I ever had | | the beach is not too wide, but very intimate |
Sun Village was the best surprise of my married life. I decided to pretty much force my husband to go on this trip, just for a change of scenery. We ended up loving every minute of our stay there. The scenery is breathtaking, the accomodations are superb, the staff is absolutely wondeful, and we ended up investing in the resort. It's hard to explain just how hard it is to count the days until we can go back. Sun Village will always be our "honeymoon", although we went there almost 5 years into our marriage. It is paradise on earth, and if you have someone to share it with,it will become an unforgettable experience Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Andrea from Toronto Canada • ill at Sun Village Beach Resort - Nov 2004
Overall Rating: 4 Location [6] • Room [4] • Service [6] • Value [4] Vacationed there with my 14 year old mid Nov 2004. Both of us became violently ill with me on an IV. The holiday was ruined as a result. This being our first Island destination, we were needless to say, hugely disappointed.
We were not the only ones ill and we travelled home on the flight with a couple that was also there. She was ill the entire flight.
Rooms were less than desirable with uncomfortable beds and looking a little run down. Complaints from other travellers of no hot water for showers.
It was a shame as I thought the property itself was beautiful.
Not much chance of me going back considering the reviews I have read and my own experience regarding illness. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By David & Margaret from Visalia, Ca • I must be in dream world!!
Overall Rating: 10 Just returned from a 9 day stay at Sun Village, Sept 3rd to the 13th. I can't say how it was before that. But, while we were there,it was great.WE dined at least twice in every restuarant, and found them to be excellent. one night in Orvando's{now called Citrus}the service was little slow, but the food was great. The grounds are beautiful and pools are well maintained. We had wonderful, relaxing Time. We were lucky and won a weeks free stay at the morning Hotel briefing. So we'll be going back and look forward to it!!!! Makes you wonder if some of those complaints might be plants from other resorts?? Overall Rating: 2 News for all, I was here in June 2003 so this outbreak started way before you think. This happens to be the most misleading resort I have ever stayed in. The images are beautiful. The rates are reasonable. The staff greets you with a fresh, cool towel and a tropical drink as soon as you arrive. Surprise: This is all because in about three days time you, if you're lucky enough, will be spending the next week of your life on the cusp of suffering from dysentery. This outbreak could have been caused by the slop they pass off as food, the parasite filled drinks, including water, or even remotely touching anything on that God forsaken island. The staff could have cared less, but when I brought the cockaroach I saw at the "Mexican" restaurant to their attention we were graciuosly transfered to another hotel. Although the next hotel (Breezes) was a step up, we had to cut the vacation short unless we wanted to attend a funeral from the sickeness we caught at the Sun Village Beach Resort. Aside from the illness factor, there is no gym (as advertised), their idea of fun is a donkey race (we were so desperate we went and only one donkey showed), board games by the pool that can be submitted to an artifact museum, harrassing young women, and doing to same "latin club dance" that i still see in my nightmares. Think again before booking this hotel, unless you have a death wish. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By • Very Disapointed
Overall Rating: 4 Location [4] • Room [8] • Service [4] • Value [2] We went to this resort in mid April 2004. The overall look and appeal of the resort is beautiful. If only there was more to do there. Unfortunetely, more than half of our group of about 26 people got very sick while staying at Sun Village. There were many others in other groups that were sick to the point of being put on IVs. Service is terrible, unfriendly and slow. Nightly entertainment (shows) was at the lowest level I have seen from staying at other resorts. We were there at the time of Ocen World Grand Oppening and it seemed like the guests staying at the resort were very much neglected due to other very important individuals who were coming for the special oppening. We, as gusets were not allowed to see the show (which for a change was actually very good, b/c it was organized just for that special night) nor we were able to use the bar that was right next to the theater in the lobby area. There was also construction right in front or our window which was facing the main road. So, it didn't much feel like you were waking up to the sound of the birds singing but the trucks comforting sound of reversing (beep, beep, beep etc...) and more of other noises that would have to do with constraction of the road. From the look of the resort you would not expect all that we have experienced while staying at Sun Village, which is pretty sad as this is a Canadian owned resort.
