My friend and I went on a guys trip to Montego Bay, and as you might imagine, went cheaply. We stayed at the Gloustershire, which was perfect for us.

The key for us was location, and the Gloustershire's is perfect. It is directly across the street from Doctor's Cave Beach and a short walk to Margaritaville. There are also a number of restaurants on the street within walking distance. We did not need a cab anywhere except to the airport. We also enjoyed the pool and hot tub.

The rooms are spacious, but mostly empty. It was just a couple beds, a nightstand and a desk with a TV. The floors are tile. There are very few outlets and none in the bathroom, in case you need one there. The rooms lock and we left the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door and had no problems.

Most rooms have a balcony and the "ocean view" is not worth it. I would recommend saving a few dollars and getting the "garden view." If you do have an ocean view room, it means you are on the street and subject to constant honking from cars driving by. It is particularly bad during the day if you try to nap. The view isn't that great as part of it is blocked by a hotel across the street.

The restaurant downstairs is one of the most inexpensive places to eat in town, but the food is just okay. The lobby has recently been redone and is very nice.

For the most part, the workers were nice. They have a bellman that will help you with your bags and anything else you need. We had trouble with the phone and calling the US and the people at the desk weren't very helpful at fixing it for us.

Overall, I'd say this is a great place to stay if you're looking for a cheap place to stay and don't want an all-inclusive type of experience. I highly recommend it. We almost stayed at Toby's Resort, which would have been a mistake as it's almost a mile down the road and not near anything. For the money, the Gloustershire couldn't have been any better.

I like the location of the hotel but thats it. the staff suck and are not very helpful. they suck and they are rude if you plan on saving money stay on the street. it would be a lot funner.

I think this is an ideal property for someone on a budget. The rooms are spacious and clean and everything is accessible. This hotel is conveniently located on the hip strip.

The service was good, employees were friendly and accomodating. The rooms were made up in a timely manner and fresh towels were given.

Although, I didn't plan to spend much time in my room, I found it to be comfortable and I slept well. The decor in the room was bright and the areas outside were getting painted on the day I left. I noticed all unoccupied rooms are left open and this may contribute to mosquitos and ants or it could just be the tropical climate.

I would consider staying at this hotel again and would recommend it to friends travelling on a budget.

Hmmmm, how can I describe this place? This is a definite spot for those on a budget but looking for a clean and decent place to stay. I still have no clue how to pronounce "gloustershire". The staff pronounced it "gloo-ster-shy-er", however the taxi drivers seemed confused as to where I wanted to go until I said "gloo-ster-sheer". Upon my arrival I thought the place was congested and in need of a paint job. However, once I stepped into the lobby and looked around, I found the place to be more inviting and not bad at all. The staff was polite, but if you want to take more than one shower per day, bring your own towels! Strangely enough, the housekeeping staff does not replace your towels, instead, they take your towels (leaving nothing), and bring the same towels back to you once they wash and dry them. Needless to say, this systematic approach may leave you without any towels for several hours throughout the day! It was very inconvenient to return from the beach with sand all over your body, only to discover you have NO towels to shower...not even a face cloth. Even if you call housekeeping, they will not bring you towels right away, you have to wait until "your" towels are ready. The dining area is relaxing with a waterfall and the food was very good. The staff was courteous but usually there is only one person to assist you so the wait time may be long.
The hotel has a splendid location,and everything is within walking distance. If you do not have the patience for the locals constantly and relentlessly selling you items, then this hotel is probably not for you. Taxis are in abundance near the hotel, but be prepared to haggle and negotiate. Overrall I would recommend this hotel to others.

The fron desk was not very helpful when we ask questions related to nearby tour. They always refer us to taxi drivers, which in general charge higher rates than usual. On the morning we leave, we asked front desk to wake us up early at 5:30AM, because our plan will leave Montigo Bay at 8:00 AM. They did not made the call until we waked up at 6:00 AM and rushed to the airport. Had we waked up later, we could have missed the plan. The location of the hotel was very good, right on the oppiside side of the best beach of Montigo Bay: Doctor Cave.

The food in the resturant was the same for the 17 days I was there. Could of been better. The breakfast was OK, But they need to find away for scambled eggs not to be cold, even when you turned up for 7am.

I love the location of this hotel. I've stayed there twice and I plan on going back this summer and staying there again. The staff is very helpful and wonderully pleasant. The breakfast is great and it gives you an opportunity to try local dishes. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends that will be visiting MoBay!

I was unable to control AC from my room -- adjust the cold setting or even turn it on/off. It was too cold most of the time and apparently only hotel people can turn it on/off. Otherwise I was pretty happy with the hotel.

The location is perfect if you plan on walking around a bit. Literally 10 ft across the street is the beach which is very nice. Down the steet about a block is the bar everyone goes to. Yes, people peddle stuff on the street. You just need to ignore it, like you would anywhere else, dont take it personally. The hotel itself is very clean and nice.

This hotel is opposite the famous Montego Bay beach . (James Bond Movies)Friendly Staff. Breakfast was included & was excellent, Well located in Montego Bay Town.Had spa tub, Would recommend.
