I have never been in a place where the employees where as friendly as at the riu complex.
The rooms always clean, food excellent, staff excellent, complex spotless.

i loved the topless ladies , great food and couldnt get enough of the free drinks , bar tenders were amazing , going back in 2 weeks , already have my bags packed. when i get there , there better be lots of partyin going on. PARTY HARDY!!!

Service is awesome!
animation is always there for you, they don't let you get bored.
The food is exquisite, love it!
Room service is efficient and neat.
I have no dislikes about this and the other 2 hotels next to it(Riu Merengue and Riu Bachata).

In Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic the Riu hotels are an excellent place to stay. The rooms were awsomely comfortable allowing you to have them as private or openly airy as you want. The hotels are as close to the ocean as can be so you can fall asleep to the sounds of waves every night no matter which room you stay in.
The service couldn't be any better. All the staff, from waiters to cleaning staff always had a welcoming smile and loved to help you speak the native language.
Taxis and tour buses pick you up right in front and take you wherever your heart desires. Plus the best part of the Puerto Plata Riu hotels is that all 3 are connected. So just because you're staying at one, you can wander freely amongst all of them - take a dip in any of the pools, get a drink from any of the bars, and eat at any of the restaraunts within the whole chain!

I didn't dislike anything about this place. I loved it all. The food was amazing, atmosphere was amazing and it was like being at home: all the food and drink was included.

The holiday was perfect everything went excellent. Room was nice always clean, minibar was filled every 2 days. Water in hotel is purified. Entertainment was the best they made it a really good holiday.They went all out on the food absolutely brilliant. Weather was really hot, swimming pools were good. To be able to go in and out of three hotels was excellent. Beach was beautiful, sunbeds eveywhere never had to lay on sand. Everything was brilliant but there was a bug out there that we caught and was spread around but we didnt let that spoil it. Iwould recommend this hotel to anyone.

THE STAFF ARE VERY HARD WORKING AND FRIENDLY AT THIS HOTEL COMPLEX.BUT THERE IS A GASTROENTERITIS VIRUS PRESENT AT THE RIU MAMBO,MERENGE AND BACHATA COMPLEX.ALL FOUR MEMBERS OF OUR FAMILY SUFFERED FROM THE ABOVE PROBLEMS AND HAD TO CONSULT THE RESORT DOCTOR.WHEN ASKED ABOUT THIS SICKNESS,HE ADMITTED THERE WAS ON GOING PROBLEM AT THE RESORT,AND HOTEL MANAGEMENT WERE TRYING TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM,BUT AT THE PRESENT TIME FAILED TO DO SO.
WHILE WE WERE THERE OVER 30 GUESTS COMPLAINED OF THESE SYMPTOMS.OUR TOUR OPERATOR THOMSON HOLIDAYS HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR SOME TIME,BUT DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO TELL US AND OTHER FAMILIES BEFORE FLYING OUT FROM THE UK.IF YOU ARE THINKING OF TRAVELLING TO ANY OF THESE HOTELS,ASK YOUR TOUR OPERATOR TO GIVE YOU A WRITTERN GUARANTEE BEFORE YOU FLY OUT THAT THERE IS NO SICKNESS AT THESE HOTELS.

The staff was great and the rooms confortable. The location is isolated and I suggest you travel into town or to Sosua to get out. All of our family became ill during our stay of Jan 2-9 2005 as did many other guests. Do some research as there appears to currently be an epidemic outbreak of some stomache illness in the three resorts of Mambo, Merenge and Bachata.

this is a good resort. a little less than it neighbor, riu merangue but still ok. staff is very friendly and speaks english. beaches are great(two of them shared with merangue) bars are good and open till 2am. night club is ok but not great. mostly skits by staff. food is good and plentiful.
