	nothin-everything was great!!

My family just got back from the Dominican on Friday March 18, 2005 and it was the best family vacation we have EVER had!! It was our first time to Puerta Plata, and the Riu Merengue, so we were a little nervous going in on the vacation but we had an amazing time and can't wait to go back there again!! The sun was VERY hot the whole time we were there, the drinks were always good and cold, along with them were the amazing bartenders! They were always dancing and smiling making everyone happy, and making it a wonderful atmosphere, if you go look for Ramon!(cutie) Most of all we will NEVER forget the whole Animation Team and how great they are! These people have so little and are always SO greatful for you to be there and to entertain you! Give them a couple dollars now and then...they deserve it!! Big thanks to Mesquito, Scooby, and LuvaLuva!! These guys were great and my family can't wait to go back in December!! BUT...for your own good wash your hands ALL the time, don't drink the water AT ALL, and be careful for what you eat! REMEMBER: it is another country!!

Having gone there in 1999 to get married we loved it so much we went back in 2001 and loved it just as much. We were treated like royalty both for our wedding/honneymoon. Then when we wennt back they did everything they could to help my wife celebrate her bithday. We have just booked to return in oct 05, but I must say we are feeling a bit concerned,

What about this virus?
The fact that there is no sitting on a night time, and no dress code.(Don`t get us wrong but is nice to dress up fo dinner then my husband would simply go and put his shorts back on for the rest off the night).

We liked having our own waiter who we thought was great and remembered us the second time we went.

The rooms were fab,food drink gounds, yes it did get very windy on the beach but it kept the heat down. Drinks were fantastic ask for a Tropical pick me up (add vodka) on a night time it`s great.

We went on some great trips, but it looks like they havesome new ones, can`t wait.

I went to this hotel with my Mum, Dad and 14 year old sister. We had the time of our lives. We go on holiday every year usually to the Canaries or Greece and this is the first time we have been to the Carribbean. We went to the Dominican Republic 9th-23rd July and were looking forward to it from the time we booked it a year before! It was everything we were hoping and it proved to be the best holiday we have ever experienced. The staff were amazing everyone from the Animation team (especially Miguel and someone whos name i haven't got a clue how to pronounce!) to the restaurant staff, bar staff and even the men responsible for giving out pool towels!!! Every single one of the members of staff made a real effort and we couldn't have wished for nicer people to look after us for 2 weeks. We never as a family go to the same hotel twice but we would definately consider going here again. The shows were excellent including Grease, Michael Jackson and Cats and there is something for everone. I would definately reccommend this to people!

The hotel is right on the beach and is between its 2 sister hotels that you can share the amenities. we stayed in a sea view room 2 yards from the beach and 3 minutes from the pool. the room was airconditioned and has a mini bar with 4 optics( a good varity to choose from).also there was water supplied and all these were topped up every 2 days, the staff/entertanment were very good/friendly. food and drink was plentifull.we have stayed at this hotel twice now and are planning to go back this year. cannot wait.

My family and I went here last year for New Year`s. We are going back for x-mas and new year, for two weeks, my husband and two children ages 12 and 7, also going with my mother in law and brother in law, this is their 4th year going. The best place for a family trip no matter the age of your children, or no children. great food always, we had no complaints what so ever. The people that work there are wonderful. Put it this way we asked our two sons if they wanted x-mas gifts or a trip agai, they chosen no gifts and the trip.

the riu merangue and the riu mambo in my opinion are the best resorts in porta plata. the staff are excelent and speak english. the beaches are excelent and the food is good but can at times be bland and repititious. entertainment is excelent and the staff will involve you if you wish. if you do not thy will leave you alone. worth trying.
