Located in the foothills and 750 feet above the Caribbean Sea on the island of Nevis, the Montpelier Plantation Inn provides an authentic taste of British colonialism with a sea breezy West Indies flair. The former 18th century sugar plantation is surrounded by lush subtropical vegetation and wildlife. Nevis Island is a popular destination for eco tourists, who visit the Botanical Garden of Nevis or hike along the trails of Nevis Peak just a few miles away. Eight miles across the water, the island of St. Kitts is known for its well preserved colonial architecture, fascinating ecology and charismatic village atmosphere.
Although the Montpelier sits well off the coast in its plantation setting, the resort offers complimentary transportation to its pristine fine sand private beach. Back at the hillside plantation, the Montpelier boasts a mosaic tiled pool and tennis courts for sunny Caribbean recreation. The central great room is a prime setting for cocktails, furnished in bright, comfortable lounge chairs, and decorated with antiques and artwork reminiscent of the inn's plantation years. Complimentary English breakfasts featuring eggs, scones and Orange Juice are available each morning. For dinner, guests can enjoy the Terrace restaurant, serving Caribbean cuisine and seafood from fresh, local ingredients, many grown in the plantation's own garden. A hand cut 17th century sugar mill is the most iconic feature of Montpelier. The mill has been converted into a setting for intimate, candle lit special request dinners.

Each of the Montpelier's 17 guestrooms has a private veranda opening to sunny breezes, and spectacular mountain and sea views. The rooms are decorated in an airy style befitting their location, with billowing canopies flowing above the beds. Though usually not required, air conditioning is available only in select rooms. Beds are dressed with fine, premium sheets, and turndown service is available upon request.
