We just got back from Boscobel last night. Although the second half of our vacation was rainy we loved the resort. The service is impeccable...sometimes we had to wait for things but in Jamaica everything is "No problem" We Americans just need to learn to slow down! We like the layout of the resort and the game room is a definite plus for kids. I had my hair braided by the lovely ladies at the resort spa, more money then the ladies outside the resort but more sanitary. The staff is very friendly and made our stay feel like we were with family by the end. The bus ride in was a little long but interesting. The food was pretty good and drinks for the most part were great. I recommend the Jamaican Delight made especially by Raymond at the main bar!

We feel sorry for any family that decides to take a vacation at this resort. while they claim to be children and family oriented, they were not!!! We had to pay (at an all-inclusive resort) for our children to eat breakfast with the characters. When we arrived, upon going to our room, the private deck was lined with 2 dozen beer bottles. what a great way to start our family vacation. Also, someone had gotten sick on the sidewalk and it stayed there for 2 days. We had to walk around it for 2 days!!!! On Wed. all the restaurants were closed except for 2. One was adult only and the other was italian. Even the buffet was closed. When we questioned them, they said there were not enough people there to support all the restaurants. Where we given a discount, NO!!!! The kids pool closed at 4pm in the afternoon. The Xgames closed at 10pm. The entrie resort looked like they were closing. It was extremely run down. We took plenty of pictures to prove our point. The only positive to the entire trip was the staff on the grounds. They went out of their way to be kind to us and our children. The management was aweful!!!!! Just wanted to prevent some other poor soul from wasting their hard earned money on a trip like this. I have never written a review before, but just thought it was important to let you know.

Our party of 9, including 5 children ages 3-12, stayed for 6 nights. Everything was wonderful! We had beautiful ocean-front rooms with concierge service, which was a definite bonus and made our stay extremely comfortable. Everyone had a great trip! There were lots of kid-friendly activities on and off the resort - our kids even enjoyed the kids camp. We also utilized the nanny service and went into town to Margaritaville one night; we had great nannies and felt extremely comfortable leaving our kids with them. The food was always good, and again very kid-friendly. This was an ideal family vacation, and we'll definitely return!

We had never been to Jamaica or anywhere outside of the U.S. before and I was somewhat nervous about the whole trip. Initially, I wasn't much impressed as we flew into Montego Bay and then rode in a bus for 2 1/4 hours to the resort. The road leaves much to be desired and apparently in Jamaica if you miss another car by an inch that's as good as a mile. My wife kept her eyes closed much of the time. We got to the resort around 11:00 p.m and being a family resort, not much was going on but the room was clean, nice, and air conditioned (it was a "family suite" which wasn't... well, just look at the website). The next morning we had breakfast (which was, surprisingly, as good as any breakfast buffet I've ever been to) and went to the beach. The resort is built on a hill and there are lots of stairs as well as an elevator to the beach. The beach itself was pretty small but never seem crowded. There are the obligatory "hawkers" which want immediately to braid hair ($40 to $60 U.S. per head)and are not shy but three "no thank you" seemed to do the trick. Initially, this was irritating but less so later as they are just trying to make a living. They are not allowed onto the resort grounds but stand just outside on the beach. Frankly the next couple of days were as relaxing as I could have asked for. We took a couple of excursions outside the resort (tubing and Dunns Falls). They were fun but not included in the resort fees. Bring money on these trips as it seems like the tubing guides and probably the Dunns Falls guides live only off their tips. They did a really good job and were worth tipping. They also want to take action pictures (for sale of course) which are also well done. American dollars are readily accepted and everything is priced that way. We brought some Jamaican money and it was just a hassle.

At the resort, snorkeling is available and is fairly well done especially for novices. Our daughter (9) really enjoyed the kids club activities and we felt she was in a safe environment (you be the judge if you go). The restaurants are all very good. Much better than I expected. Service is not fast so don't plan to "eat and run" unless you're at the buffet. The buffet is very good also. Most everything I had was very good. There is a romantic dinner package served on the beach (extra $140) which my wife really enjoyed. The trip back starts very early. Our flight was at 11:30 a.m. and the bus (a comfortable bus but still a bus) from the resort left at 6:00 a.m.

Their margaritas are not very good but the rum and coke, and brandy sour's are very good. They generally have a hard time keeping up with the demand for beach towels at the pool, glasses and napkins at the buffet restaurant, and frozen drinks (non-alcoholic) at any of the bars.. I consider these minor irritations and not real problems. There are lots of stairs so be prepared for some exercise.

Would I go back? Definately. Even with the bus ride from the airport I would go back tomorrow.

Jim

P.S. Plan ahead and take enough money for the exit fee if it's not included with your plane ticket as well as money to spend. There's no ATM at the resort.

The beautiful atmosphere, the warmth of the staff, the delectable food that was served. Beaches Boscobel is an all-inclusive dream. There are things for the kids to do and even more things for the adults to enjoy knowing that their children are in good hands.
It's a great way to experience Jamaica and be treated like kings and queens.

I liked the fact that we didn't have to leave. Everything we needed was right there. Everyone had something to do from the smallest child to the oldest adult. It just took a long time to get there from the airport. But hey we had a blast!

Overall Rating: 8   Location [8] • Room [8] • Service [10] • Value [8]

We just got back from Boscobel and it was wonderful. However beware the bus drive is 2 1/2 hours from the airport through Jamaica. The food was fine for the first two nights then it was terrible. No matter what restaurant you ate at it was all the same slop. Dont order steak ! you need blades for teeth. If you plan on snorkeling take your own equipment becaue they DONT disinfect mouthpieces.EWWW! Also every girl gets their hair braided take your own comb . The locals on the beach do a fine job for half the cost!Dont be afraid of them...Ask for Donna she did my daughters hair in 45 minutes . At the hotel they took hours...Go into ocho Rios to shop for a few hours take a taxi hell wait for you, until your done.. Lots of fun. P.S air Jamaica planes are broken down and we were delayed twice with maintenance problems. Try to fly Northamerican. Hope this helps!! Have a great time, despite this minor problems, we did!

Stayed for five days in Spring 2004. Definitely worth taking the family here. The kids really enjoyed the activities, and the golf course was better than I expected.
