User reviews for Doctors Cave Resort
By Kim • Hated My First and Last night @ DCBH
Overall Rating: 2 • Room [1] | room wasn't clean |
When I just arrived At Doctors Cave Beach Hotel my first turn off was that they had no parking space, I must recommend the staff they were nice, but my room wasn't so clean as some people say, I found dead insects in the room and in the bathroom, the shower wasn't cleaned properly. I am happy I only spent one Night.
The food wasn't all that delicious. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By Anayiz from San Juan, Puerto Rico • worst place to stay in Jamaica
Overall Rating: 2 Location [4] • Room [4] • Service [2] • Value [2] It was my first trip to Jamaica with my husband, he made the bad mistake of chosing that hotel online, I think that he did not read the reviews on the hotel. My God, that place was killing me from the breakfast to the diner, what kind of food are they serving to people!!!
The staff was completely indifferent, you seat for 30 minutes in a restaurant without seeing any waiter coming...... I would not ever recommend it to any of my friends.
And the last night before I left I went to the bathroom and there were two big red cokratch running ....... (when I read here that the place is clean....!!). The beds are very uncomfortable, since they put two beds together to make one. It is ok that we were not paying for a five stars hotel, but there is a minimum they can do to satisfy the tourists.
And this way they have to leave a note below the door of the room to remind people to leave before 12 pm is so vulgar, people who make reservation know normally when to leave, there is no need to push their back. .... I'm sure of one thing....we will never go back there again. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By • Nice, older, hotel... Excellent location!
Overall Rating: 8 Location [10] • Room [6] • Service [6] • Value [8] This was my second visit to Dr's Cave Hotel. I not only recommend this hotel to my friends, but I bring them with me!! It is an older hotel, so there are some updates that should be made (such as new a/c) but I enjoy the atmosphere of a smaller hotel and absolutely love the convenient location. Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions!! I'd love to give you feed-back & tips!! Overall Rating: 2 upon arriving to Doctors Cave Hotel we were escorted to a room which was only two beds and a bathroom no tv no nothing the room looked nothing like the pic`s. we were going to check in to another hotel and the staff then put us in a pool front room with a tv, but the tub was clogged with what we will never know but the whole week we had to shower with our sandels on due to the black gunk in the bottom of the tub. There is no hotel security so your life is in your own hands. Every morning we awaken to big blaster music with pounding throbbing base beats every single day.Drinks are exspensive. would not send my worst enemy to this hotel!!!!!!! Overall Rating: 8 A friend recommended the Doctors Cave Beach Hotel to me. I was a bit hesitant at first as the reviews below are mixed. Well once again my well-traveled friend came through for me. Doctors Cave was just what I was looking for which was a clean, casual hotel at a reasonable price. I wanted to do some exploring around the island, so an all-inclusive hotel package was not for me. The hotel is very centrally located in Montego Bay, which is a great ?base? as many attractions are relatively close, Negril is to the West and Ocho Rios to the East. The hotel has personality! I found the staff to be extremely courteous and the facilities to adequate. The pool bar is a great place to work on the tan during the day and later in the evening offered some of the best music of the trip. The rooms are bright, clean and spacious. Doctors Cave Beach Hotel certainly met my needs and I?ll return. Was this review helpful to you? → YES / NO | | By AnonymousUser3 from Atlanta • I always stay here
Overall Rating: 8 I have been to Jamaica 4 tomes and always stay at the DOctors Cave. It is a simple, quaint hotel with a location that is unbeatable. The cafe has a wonderful breakfast menu and the staff are always very helpful. For the traveler who doesn`t care for the "all inclusive", the hotel is perfect!! Overall Rating: 6 As I have been to Jamaica on more than a dozen occasions, I consider myself to be a seasoned Jamaica expert. I recently visited the Doctors Cave Beach Hotel for the first time and was very impressed with both the hotel facilities and the staff. The hotel is very centrally located on Gloucester Avenue, which is referred to as the Hip Strip. There you will find the majority of restaurants, shops, beaches and nightclubs that Montego Bay has to offer. It was especially convenient for me as I am not an all-inclusive type. The Doctors Cave Beach is one of the best beaches in Jamaica. The hotel is very quaint and unique. I would describe it as a boutique property in that it has been around for some time, but the recent renovations have taken this colonial style property and given it a very "upbeat" Caribbean feel. The rooms are clean and well equipped. I found the bar and restaurant to be very affordable and enjoyable. The bartender "Richard" makes an unforgettable rum punch! You must try it, if you decide to go. One of the best things about the hotel is that it is small and intimate, yet offers a lot of facilities. I enjoyed having access to the freshwater pool and the Jacuzzi that they have located in the garden. They also have a exercise room, but I didn`t get to that! This hotel is a very good value and I certainly will visit my friends at Doctors Cave when I next visit Montego Bay. Overall Rating: 6 I stayed at Doctors Cave not to long ago. The hotel was not what I expected, but turned out to be ok.....This was my first trip to Jamaica. We actually ended up having our room switched due to the many flying roaches and up-keep of the room.....but the second room was really nice(compared)! The bar and the pool were average and the hotel personnel were some what helpful. Doctors Cave Beach , a very beautiful beach(which cost $2 to get on) was located directly across the street. Basically a trip you had to make the best of....a lot of really nice restaurants near by and shopping as well. Probably the best features of the hotel were the pool(private and quaint) and the outdoor hallways that remind you of a tropical rainforest.....but I wouldn`t stay there again. Overall Rating: 4 The location of the hotel on the "hip strip" and across from the beach is great but the hotel itself leaves a lot to be desired. Needs new bedding, has a small pool and seems to need a good "airing out". Great for people on a low budget and who won`t be spending a great deal of time in their rooms.
